1966. To help accomplish this, Jay enlisted the help of Roush. They built Jay a custom 590 Hp Fuel injected FE Engine which has a displacement of 511ci, and 587 lbsof torque. It will be matched with the Tremic 6 speed transmission, that was also custom built for this application. As Jay is quick to point out, he lives in a hilly area, so he needs that little extra boost to get him up and over those hills. Now with the Drivetrain in the car, the focus will shift to the interior compnents. As we mentioned earlier, the car needed a cowl transplant due to a previous accident. The donor cowl was set up for factory air, so Jay took advantage of it and installed factory air in the car. The cowl and dash on an A/C car are very different from a non A/C car. The dash has extra vents built into it. The
A/C components from Vintage Air are in place with new electronic controls to replace the old vacuum system. Also working on the upholstery. The gray headliner is already in installed. When it came time to do the interior, even though the original seats were in perfect looking condition, they had to be scrapped because of the lingering rodent smell from when the little fuzzy friends made their home in there. Even after airing them out for months, the smell was still there, so the decision was made to go to all new covers.
