Page 8 - The Jay Leno 7-Litre Restoration

In May of 2010 Per installed the fenders and the hood along with all the chrome on the front end. As you can see from the photos the final polishing of the paint is almost complete. Bernard got the issue with the window switches figured out and he is finishing up on the electric system.
October 2010- Latest word from Bernard over at the Big Dog Garage is that they got the issue with the hood resolved. They were able to locate smaller air cleaners so they could get the clearance for the hood to close. But that presented another problem. Once Jay started driving it they realized that the under hood temperature was way too high and it should have a cold airbox installed. So they designed a custom air intake and fabricated it with their 3D printer. They are currently testing it and if all works according to plan they will have it made from a more heat resistant plastic than the ABS they can use on the printer.
They installed a power steering rack, which improved the steering response tremendously, but it also brought another problem to light. The original Galaxie suspension geometry does not allow  for sufficient positive Caster adjustment to get the steering rack to self center properly. John Hotchkis ( Hotchkis Sport Suspension) helped them out again. He provided us with a wonderful set of upper and lower suspension arms and aftercareful alignment, the steering is working fantastic. As soon as the air box is finished the car will be completed.

Final buffing to the Factory Vintage Burgundy Paint Job

A quote from Bernard. "I will send you some pics as soon as Jay parks the car long enough to take some shots."

I guess he likes it.

Jay has since cresated a 35 minute video about the car which is available at the beginning of this story. He even thanked us for our help in it. We are sure this will end up being one of the finest examples of a Ford 7-Litre, and we are thankful to Jay, Bernard, and the entire Big Dog Garage Crew for sharing their story with us.
